Tangrams Most young children at some point loved shapes and drawing different figures. Geometry is all about shapes and figures. Have you ever tried using Tangrams with your child or students?A Tangram is sort of like a jigsaw puzzle. Unlike a puzzle though, with a tangram, you can put the pieces together in hundreds of ways. Maybe even in thousands of ways if it is large enough. Usually this is not the case. Tangrams are great teaching tool to mix in with learning math in the classroom or at home. The main reason is because they're a lot of fun, intersting, and meaningful. Tangrams "help students develop mathematical concepts of fractions, spatial awareness, geometry, area, and perimeter" You can even create your own Tangrams at home or in your classroom with these simple materials. Tangrams present a new, interesting, hands- on way to deal with topics that most often are or can be quite boring and meaningless.
